Donkey Trekking Kefalonia
Welcome to Donkey Trekking Kefalonia!
My name is Katharina Fehring Kallivoka, and I am a German Social Worker. I was born and raised on a farm in the beautiful region of East Westphalia in the heart of western Germany, which belongs to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. As a child, my siblings and I had plenty of space to play and many four-legged friends. Barns filled with pigs, several horses, the farm dog, and cats made sure we were never bored.
It was a childhood dream to own a donkey. Since 2013, my donkeys have been running at Donkey Trekking Kefalonia.
Less than 50 years ago, you would find a donkey in every corner of Kefalonia. They were used for work in the mountains, transporting wood, straw, and olives to the villages, or grain to the mills. Along with modern developments in agriculture and forestry, donkeys began to disappear.
Known for their calmness, excellent social skills, and the fact that they are very sure-footed on all kinds of terrain, donkeys are ideal companions for walks or long hikes. Donkeys don't run fast. They will slow you down and give you the opportunity to enjoy the nature surrounding you.
Take the opportunity to explore off-the-beaten paths. With my donkeys, Grizella, Violeta, Dixie, and Louise, you can discover the beauty and rich history of Kefalonia in a traditional way. Enjoy breathtaking views over Sami Bay and the beautiful valleys of the area and become a part of the island's history.
Donkeys should not be loaded with more than 20% of their own body weight. To ensure our donkeys stay healthy, passengers weighing up to 50 kilograms are welcome.
