Make your own traditional pottery in Kythnos island
Activity Description
Like all other Cycladean islanders, the inhabitants of Kythnos have been familiar with the use of clay since the earliest times. It has been employed for everything from the construction of cooking vessels to Kythnos beehives. The art and culture of ceramic pottery were perhaps more developed here than in other Cycladic islands in Greece if only because of the plentiful clay to be found on the island. In addition, Kythnos is the only Cyclades where visitors will see the signature hand-made clay roof tiles, as living proof of its indigenous craftsmanship!
Activity
Pottery lessons take place in the heart of Chora village, conducted by the oldest potter on the island! Step by step you will be guided through its intriguing secrets, and of course, at the end of the day, you will depart with your own handmade souvenirs!
