Activity Description
Olympus - Jeep Safari! We discover the unknown west-northwest side of Olympus following a magical route.
With four-wheel drive Jeep-type vehicles we live a unique off-road experience in the green environment of the mythical mountain. Starting point for Olympus - Jeep Safari, the picturesque mountain village of Kokkinoplo at 1,100m. We tour its beautiful cobbled streets with the imposing peaks of Olympus standing proudly above us.
We get in our vehicles and follow the dirt road to Xerolaki. The road leads us slowly to the beautiful forest of Kokkinoplou. The natural environment is wonderful. Rapid streams, natural springs, pines, and firs, and among them blooming glades overlooking the mountain. We reach the famous fountains Tsoureka and Papazisi, where we stop to cool off in their crystal clear waters and enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds them. In the beautiful and at the same time wild area of Xerolaki, Olympus is revealed in all its majesty with its three highest peaks. Mytikas at 2918m, Skolio at 2,911m, and Stefani at 2,908m create a magical landscape.
The next milestone of our route, is the Naum Caves, which are the natural entrance to the Great Cauldrons, the pre-glacial basin. At this point, we make a stop and hike to the caves. After visiting the caves, we continue our route to Bara and the village of Petra, in the prefecture of Pieria for a tour of the village square. From here we meet the asphalt again, pass in front of the old Sanatorium, and return to our base.
