The Iron Road
The Eastern part of the island reveals the productive character of the island of Kythnos. Walking here you will explore the old mines of the island, an echo of the mining activity of the previous century in Kythnos. This area of Kythnos has a lot of water for the island due to the underground cave and is famous for its agricultural production which includes apricots, berries, figs, and pomegranates. The tour to Eastern Kythnos offers experiences with unique images and aromas.
Activity
The route follows the path that starts from the eastern entrance of Dryopida offering a magnificent view of the eastern Cyclades. It descends towards Lefkes beach where it meets the impressively sized mining buildings, the so-called Spitares, which exploited the island's mines.
After the tour, we come across the laundromats where the housewives of the village went and washed the family's clothes by neighborhood. During the experience depending on the season, the visitor can taste almost all kinds of Greek fruits, such as apricots, berries, figs, and pomegranates.
At the end of the hike, we end up at Lefkes beach. The beach is characterized by its crystal clear waters and a very beautiful sandy beach. The return can be made by the same path or by means of transport.

- The elevation difference on the way up and back is about 200m in 2km.
- In case the return is made by means of transport, there is no uphill.
- A minimum of 4 participants is required for the implementation of the activity. In the event that the required number of participants is not reached or due to adverse weather conditions or technical difficulties we have the right to postpone or cancel the activity.
